A Bit About Friends and Trauma Survivors Support Group

We are a new, private group that focuses on friendship, sharing and supporting those who have, believe they have, or support another who has, dissociative disorders and other trauma related disorders. Discussion revolves around symptoms of dissociative identity disorder and treatment options for those struggling with trauma related disorders. Members discuss the effects of childhood trauma and abuse that often lead to a diagnosis of dissociative disorders. All forums are broken down into sub-forums based on topics such as: coping with dissociative identity disorder, daily living with dissociative disorders, eating disorders, depression, self-injury; sexual, physical, emotional abuse, and healing. Alters may create individual profiles and participate on any area of the board.

Membership is not restricted to those with dissociative disorders; other trauma survivors or supporters are welcome to apply for membership.

Friends and Trauma Survivors Support Group

Our mission is to provide a safe place for persons with Dissociative Identity Disorder and other survivors of abuse as well as their families, friends, significant others and supporters, to meet and share, form positive relationships and openly discuss issues that come up in daily living. We view dissociation as a gift which has allowed us to survive intense abuse. We choose a variety of healing patterns which work differently for each individual. Members are friendly and compassionate. Co-operation between members and staff is expected, and there are guidelines for posts and also for chat. Posts need to remain relevant to topics. Members respect and validate each other as unique and significant. Members care about each others' feelings, and write accordingly. Staff regularly monitors the board to ensure that it remains safe and comfortable for everyone.

You are responsible for your own safety while participating here at Friends and Trauma Support Group.
